The CRI-CRI chocolate, a beloved treat in Piedmont, originated between the 19th and 20th Century. Its name comes from a love story between Paolo and Cristina; the patisserie salesgirl would ask Paolo, “Cri?” and he would reply, “Cri!” This sweet tradition led to the naming of these pralines, featuring a roasted hazelnut core coated in sugar balls.
