Chiostro di Saronno

Paolo Lazzaroni & Figli is based in Saronno, Italy (near Milano) and is owned by the Lazzaroni Family.

The Family originally owned 2 different Lazzaroni Companies; in 1927 the two companies ended up in a new sole structure, which focused all energies on the cookies production.

Over the years, the cookie company grew phenomenally well, becoming one of the most famous around the world, well known for its high quality standards.

In 1984, after the sale of the biscuit branch (the D. Lazzaroni & C, that today has nothing to see anymore with the Family or with Saronno) to an American multinational, Paolo Lazzaroni - namesake of his great grandfather, creator of the liqueurs - kept the Company "Paolo Lazzaroni & Figli“.

At the beginning of the 90’s, Paolo Lazzaroni built today's plant in Saronno.

The Company is today run by Paolo and Luca lazzaroni who are the 7th and 8th generation of a family of entrepreneurs who have always worked in the high-quality Italian food business.

Paolo Lazzaroni & Figli is especially well known for its Amaretti biscuits, panettoni and for the Amaretto liqueur and is committed to offering a wide variety of high quality Italian specialties to the high end worldwide specialty trade.

They still follow, step by step, the old recipe dated 1851 for the Amaretti Chiostro di Saronno cookies.

Amaretti are delicious almond-flavored crunchy cookies are made in Saronno, Italy. Legend states that Amaretti biscuits were created three centuries ago by two young lovers for the Cardinal of Milan. Made by slowly baking a blend of sugar, apricot kernels, and egg whites, these crunchy round biscuits are decorated with sparkling white sugar and wrapped in colorful paper. Not only do they produce excellent amaretti, but they also have wonderful panettone, pandoro, Bacu di Dama, cantuccini, and lemon cookies!

Once a year for the holidays, the traditional recipe for Milanese panettone is meticulously produced following strict specifications in a 35-hour-long process. Only carefully selected, top-quality ingredients are used in the making. The raising agent is natural sourdough yeast, which makes the cake extra soft and fragrant. The result is a cake with a distinctive tall form and a rich, yet delicate flavor.
