Torrone, a traditional Italian Christmas treat, is a nougat made from sugar, honey, nuts, and egg whites. Its origins are not precisely known, but one legend dates it back to 1441 when the confection appeared as a nut, honey, and egg white dessert shaped to resemble the famous Cremona tower, "Il Torrione". Many of our customers fondly recall childhood memories associated with torrone, such as finding little boxes of soft nougat in their stocking at Christmas or watching large blocks of hard torrone being cut with a hammer and cleaver at Italian feasts during the summer.
