Sabadì Hard Candy - Honey, Mandarin, & Cardamom

Dedella is a small-batch hard candy from Sabadì, the Sicilian chocolate maker. Each one is cooked over an open flame and shaped by hand. It's made with orange blossom honey (zagara) from the Sicilian black bee, a rare native honeybee protected by Slow Food, plus a little mandarin and cardamom.

The honey comes first, floral and soft. Then the mandarin brightens it up, and cardamom adds a warm, slightly spicy finish. The flavor is clean and gentle, nothing like the sharp sweetness of mass-market candy.

Unlike most hard candies, Dedella contains no glucose syrup, so it's made from just four ingredients.

• Hard candies
• Sicilian orange blossom honey
• Mandarin and cardamom essential oils
• No glucose syrup
• Gluten Free
• Individually wrapped
• Handmade in Modica, Sicily, Italy
• 1.41 oz

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes these different from ordinary hard candy?

Most hard candies are made mostly from glucose or corn syrup, with artificial flavors and colors. Dedella uses only organic cane sugar, real honey, and pure essential oils, and each batch is cooked over an open flame and finished by hand.

What is orange blossom honey?

Bees make it from the flowers of Sicily's citrus groves, which Sicilians call zagara. It's light, floral, and delicately sweet.

Are they gluten-free?

Yes.

Do they contain artificial colors or flavors?

No. The flavor comes only from honey and natural mandarin and cardamom essential oils.

Are they safe for young children?

Like any hard candy, they can be a choking hazard, so they aren't recommended for small children.
